EVERYONE DESERVES EQUAL NOBILITY

As the very first Supportive Living Facility in the country serving people living with disabilities, Eden Supportive Living is not about real estate, it is about creating something that gives people the freedom to live the way they want to live.

Our mission, therefore, is to improve the quality of peoples’ lives while helping them overcome any boundaries that need overcoming. We craft an environment that is accessible, one in which people can grow. A place we can all be proud to call home. We don’t believe housing for people with disabilities should feel stale. We believe care should be provided in a spirit of hospitality and love. This mission inspires us and we hope it inspires you.

To us, Eden is a place where everyone deserves to live the fullest life possible.  A place where “Everyone Deserves Equal Nobility” (“E.D.E.N.”).

Our Story

In 2003, witnessing the hardships faced by his own family members living with Multiple Sclerosis, and their fear that one day they might end up in institutional facilities, Mitch J. Hamblet founded Eden.  As a rebellious upstart to the nursing home industry they faced great opposition.

In 2005, they open their doors in 2005 founded on the principal of transforming lives through higher living standards.  Eden quickly developed into the industry’s youngest and best-designed health care properties, delivering the next generation of exemplary care and offering people the utmost quality of life and freedom.  Pioneering managed care for resident’s scheduled and unscheduled needs, as well as, personal assistance in advancing people’s development on a daily basis.  Done so by encouraging people to play an active role in their physical and mental wellness.

Since their first Eden, they have not stopped providing award-winning housing and care for thousands of people living with disabilities.

SUPPORTIVE LIVING PROGRAM

In 1987, Illinois developed the Supportive Living Program (SLP) as an alternative to nursing home care for seniors.  In 2005, with the persistence of the Eden Team, Eden Supportive Living developed the first  for young persons living with disabilities.

The goal of the program is to preserve privacy and autonomy while emphasizing health and wellness for persons who would otherwise need nursing facility care.

Providers regularly assess each resident’s health status and consult with the resident on an ongoing service plan that promotes health and wellness.  The Department of Healthcare and Family Services can assist with payment for some services that are not routinely covered.  These include personal care, homemaking, laundry, medication assistance, social and health activities, recreation, and 24-hour staff to meet residents’ scheduled and unscheduled needs. The resident is responsible for paying the other costs.

By offering personal care and other services, residents live independently and take part in decision-making where personal choice, dignity, privacy, and individuality are emphasized.

AT eden,
We are constantly asking
"why not?"

Right now, we’re transforming the way health care is experienced by people living with disabilities. Only time will tell what’s next, but one thing is for sure; when tomorrow comes, we’ll be ready. We’ll be ready to think critically, cast visions and execute strategies that transform lives.

Why Us?

Eden Supportive Living is not just a new housing concept. It is a lifestyle designed for people with disabilities ages 22 and older who expect a better quality of living. At Eden, a person can live amongst their peers in exciting neighborhoods, while taking comfort in knowing there are licensed health professionals available to assist with daily living activities or health emergencies.

Built around the notion everyone is entitled to live with dignity, Eden is the answer for young adults searching for accessible housing with support services, while maintaining a more independent lifestyle (a resident can choose a studio, one or two bedroom apartment). Moreover, each socially-oriented community fosters inter-resident activity without forsaking a person’s privacy.

Safety is always a paramount concern at Eden. Every Eden apartment is equipped with at least two emergency pull switches. Staff is available to respond when a cord is pulled.

The real secret of Eden’s success is its staff. All of its wellness personnel are licensed health care professionals. Annually, the entire organization conducts a rigorous sensitivity training to better serve people with physical disabilities. From maintenance to dining, each employee’s goal is to make available the highest level of service while honoring the resident’s right to choose how to live their life.
